UMMEMO DOCUMENTARY

Ummemo is a traditional ceremony practised by the Swazi people. It is an annual ceremony where each chief calls for the preservation of cultures, traditions and customs, which are vital for unity and development within the communities. This is a ceremony that is backed up by the monarch of the nation. The relationship between the chief and his subjects is evident. The roles of warriors, regiments, headmen and senior officials are noted during this ceremony. The documentary focuses on the role of Ummemo in our present time while showcasing the event which was held at Emjindini in Barberton, Mpumalanga late in 2019.
